CAD/CAM Integration
Dustform is a browser-based application that allows users like carpenters to easily and efficiently create part sketches and create the tool paths for CNC machining simultaneously. This innovative approach eliminates traditional workflow bottlenecks.
It connects the dots in a classic CAD/CAM workflow. Instead of doing all the construction first, exporting the data and then applying machining strategies in a separate CAM program afterwards, users create their desired forms and machining parameters from the very beginning.
Dustform offers both sketching functionalities including smart guides and modification tools and detailed tool and machining parameter management.
AI-Powered Design Agent
The main USP however is the integration of a smart AI-powered agent that allows users to prompt their solution instead of having to construct it themselves.
It works really well to create a first draft of the desired outcome, often already getting to 90% of the solution and requiring only little – if any adjustment.
Technology
Mainly built as a NextJS application based on a PostgreSQL database and Supabase for authentication. The viewport is built on a canvas combined with extensive custom display logic and components for real-time interaction.
